Valentine’s Day is approaching, and for some of you, the holiday may be a reminder that your love life stinks. Maybe you feel neglected because your girlfriend spends all her free time playing the slots at the nearest casino. Perhaps your guy, who actually celebrates Groundhog Day, deems Valentine’s another stupid Hallmark holiday. Or maybe the shine wore off your once-sparkly relationship the night your lovely girlfriend came to dinner in purple sweatpants and belched like a trucker after drinking the can of Pabst Blue Ribbon she brought in her purse. Perhaps it’s something more serious, though we can’t imagine anything more serious than that.

Just know that whatever is wrong in your relationship, local artists, musicians and comedians are here to help you. They’re not licensed therapists, though they can be thoughtful and analytical. They also can be downright funny. Best of all, they work for free.

These would-be love doctors include singer-songwriter Cat Shell; Lake Worth singer-songwriter Keith Michaud (who can always be counted on for biting sarcasm); Helena Garcia, an artist whose work epitomizes happiness; Stash Gallery owner Evo Love, a woman known for telling it like it is; and Shawn Snyder, a singer-songwriter and self-described “connoisseur of the broken heart.”

That’s Snyder in the picture above. He’s all coffeed-up and ready to go, notebook in hand. Ask him anything. As a songwriter, he’s been seeking out doomed relationships and ruminating on them for years now. It’s what he does. So go ahead, make his day.
